Stan Lee’s Gay Superhero!!!

16 01 2009

If you haven’t heard the excited giggling and gleeful prancing, it appears that Stan Lee, creator of such little known characters like the X-Men and Spider-Man, has decided to create a gay superhero… some kind of high school kid struggling with his super powers and his sexuality.

Let me get this straight: in some conference room, Stan Lee said, “After the success of Heroes, how do we make Spandex wearing, sharp tongued strong men relevant to modern culture? Let’s make him a queer!”

Note: this is not the proposed character
What do you think the kids name should be? I’m putting money on the Flamer. Or Flame-Man. Or Steroid Queen.

Oh, and despite the statement that it will be the first gay superhero, there have been lots lots lots more… including trannies and ex-gays, too!!! But, with names like Hulkling, Freedom Ring, Attractive Lad, Captain Power, and Wanda Mann… I can understand why they never exactly made it big.

Are you sure this isnt the show he was working on with Perry Moore bringing the character of Thomas Creed to life, on/for Showtime if I remember correctly. I reported on this awhile ago, in November sometime, on my blog. Here is a direct link to that post: http://frfozybearftwin.blogspot.com/2008/11/perry-moore-receives-three-accolades-in.html I hope it helps with the research and information.

Thom Creed doesn’t really get around to wearing spandex. I love the book (Hero by Perry Moore) a lot, so I’m really excited for this.

Also, Hulkling’s (a.k.a. Teddy Altman) boyfriend Wiccan (Billy Kaplan) originally chose the name Asgardian in homage to Thor… but when the boys decided to come out as a couple, Billy decided “ass-guardian” wasn’t a great codename after all. There’s your comic book nerd trivia for the day.

The gay X-Men characters have had pretty respectable names: Mystique, Anole (whom I totally have a crush on), Northstar (whom they unfortunately gave elf ears and a penchant for figure skating), Graymalkin, etc.

Wonder Man

It’s from the novel by Perry Moore. So it should follow the book
